Police, hunters, and local governments in Japan are simulating emergency bear drills after a recent rise in wild black bear sightings. Repeated sightings of a black bear near the city of Utsunomiya led to the closure of nearly 100 local public schools. The emergency drills involve a local government official dressing up in a costume and bear mask and being strategically subdued by drill participants.
